Itch Monetization Policy and Chasing Sunsets

It's with great disappointment and sadness that it seems likely Stone Fox Studios will be forced to pull out of the Itch platform due to recent changes they have made to their payment system that effectively prohibits adult content from being distributed here.

Our first commitment is to the fans who purchased here with the understanding that they would receive future updates free of charge.   Kentyrr and I are working on a plan to make sure you are taken care of.   I will update this post once we have settled on an approach to satisfy the customers who trusted their investment would be protected here.

In the meantime, and effective immediately until the policy is clarified or reversed by Itch, we are taking our visual novel down for new buyers.

For more information, you can read the details here.

Best,

Stoya and Kentyrr

This is  very sad and frustrating situation for you, the Devs, and us who use Itch.io.

Do purchasers get a free Steam Key? Or, as a purchaser, will I eventually get the full game on Itch, or will I have to buy it again on Steam?

We aren't going to make any legitimate purchaser pay twice, John.

If you paid once, we'll ensure you get the full game.

Won't be easy, will it, though? Itch only allows an AVN if it's free, but you can't offer "free updates" so on Itch it would be free, but paid for on Steam. So I don't envy you get the rest of the game JUST to Itch purchasers of the game! (I hope at least you KNOW who the purchasers are!) :) I have faith in you, though. I think most purchasers, like me, would buy the game again on Steam, just to give you the income you deserve, so feel free to tell us all, if it's too hard to work out a way to get updates/the full game to us Itch purchasers, we will help YOU out, because of how GOOD this AVN is!

well hope it all gets worked out or can get stem code i love this story

This is terrible. :( NGL ... If you do go Steam-only, I'd appreciate a Steam key since I paid $20 here because the story and art are just so goddamn good. Would have bought on Steam in the first place had Mac been there.

It simply made me buy it on Steam. Not the best move from Itch.

Yeah, well...in Germany all games with adult content are banned on Steam.

So sorry to hear of this decision by Itch it is truly sad.  Love this game and Much Thanks for not forgetting about your fans here.  Looking forward to hearing more from Stone Fox Studios!!

This is very upsetting. I've been so looking forward to your update for this. I hope the suggestion that one of the other members made does work. I really hate that they are doing this too such great story writers.

I know the games on Steam. But I hope you don't forget your Itch customers that paid for the game...

We won't leave Itch customers hanging.   I believe we can still update our binaries here, and anyone who has already purchased the game can download it.

We will simply disable NEW purchases.

So sad. This could well bankrupt Itch!

Serves them right

I purchased the game on Wednesday but I don't see any download links on my download page. I'm wondering if this is because I didn't click the link until after you pulled the game from the store. I hope you can help me get this sorted

Send an email to support@stonefoxstudios.net, and we'll make sure you get the latest and greatest SenorGuac.   Further, the download links should function on this site for a few more days.

It did let me download finally, thank you for the reply.

Itch needs to take a look at their best selling games. Adult content makes up a huge chunk of their revenue. Sorry to hear about this.

One of the best games on this platform, hoping they resolve this issue!

It's a damn shame. Itch must be covering their asses about something like not selling adult games to underage members. They're taking a financial hit because of this, too. I think you can still upload your game without a download option. Those of us who have purchased the game will still get the little "You purchased this game" box at the top of the screen that will bring us to the downloads.

Thank you!

That sounds like the easiest solution.   We'll be posting the Chapter 7 update very soon, and we'll see how that goes.

Best,

SFS
